We were making good time, or so Darvire told me.
It had been 6 hours since we left. Cati was flying with Unknown Third, and Darvire was carrying me. They were scouting a head. The landscape flitted in and out of my darkened view as he traveled through the shadows of the forest. It was an odd sensation; the feeling of your whole body dissolving like sand through your fingers, to regather its self just as quickly was scary and thrilling at the same time. Every time he did that, my body would go all tingly.
Darvire still did not say where he was taking us, and who he was taking us too. Just that we'll see when we get there. You could tell that Cati and Unknown Third did not find this as a satisfying answer. I think I was still a little goofy from the loss of blood and didn't really care to take notice that I was rather really exasperated too.
"Can you tell me now where we're going, who we're meeting, and what we're going to do when we get there??" I asked for the umpteenth time.
"Some where very secret, some people who's identities are classified, and we'll figure that out when we get there."
I sighed. "Ooookay... If you saaaaaaaaaaaay soooooooooooooo."
"Better get some sleep, you." He said. "You're a little loopy."
"And wake up to find that I missed the secret place, and those secret people, and what we decided to do?" I huffed. "I don't think so."
"Awe, come on... Do you really think I'll let you miss out all the fun?"
"Well, no..."
"Then go to sleep, I'll wake you up when we get there... or do I have to start singing again?"
That tore me; hearing his marvelous voice, but feeling that empty place in my heart, or trying to fall asleep, but being too jittery? It took me a moment. I wanted to find out why I had that empty feeling, and the only way for me to do that was to hear that song again.
"How bout a song?"
"Are you sure?" You could hear his concern. He must know how much the song hurts me...
I nodded into his chest. "Yes." I closed my eyes and prepared myself for the sorrow.
He started soft again, and I felt the calm melodies ripping the hole in my heart open again. It was like a bullet going right through.
I fought desperately to stay awake, but it was useless; my eyes drooped, my breathing calmed, and my heart slowed to the beats of the song. Before I passed out, one person entered my head, and this person I hadn't thought of for years...
Dad?!
